"Travel is vital, especially in the worst of times. I would say that, though, wouldn’t I, as a journalist who runs toward danger, not away from it? But in both good and difficult times alike, traveling & meeting people with different & opposing ideas is as important as finding the most inviting beaches, visiting the best restaurants, and seeing the sights." -Christian Amanpour
Around the World in 120 Days

Around the World in 120 Days

April is almost upon us, we have our route situated and our tickets booked! I'm feeling a combination of excitement, nervousness and bittersweet grief that comes with leaving, especially my family and friends This past 6 months in San Diego has been one of the biggest gifts in my life.

Travel is the thing we save for. Michael is a photographer where travel has been a part of his nomenclature since he was 18. For me, it's like going to school. We absorb as much as we possibly can, and help where we can along the way. We want our daughter to be a global citizen, compassionate and thoughtful in her world view. Technically she won’t “remember” this experience, but it will be a imprinted on the code of her character.

Colombia, Panama, Hokkaido & Okinawa (Japan), Vanuatu, French Polynesia, Cook Islands, Brisbane-Sydney (Australia), Bali, South Africa & Namibia.

It will be challenging, it will be awe-inducung, it will test our constitution as new parents, but strangely I'm not nervous about bringing our daughter.

So here we go. It's on. If you know about a particular music, people or places that you love in any of these regions, please leave in the comments below!
